Corporate Identity & Profile

 

Founded in 2002, YAB Management has its head office near the Montreal area in Saint-Adolphe D’Howard (Quebec), one satellite office in Rankin Inlet (Nunavut) and one in La Sarre (Quebec). In addition, YAB Management also has several projects and a very important presence stemming from community support in Whapmagoostui/Kuujjuarapik. For more than 20 years now, YAB Management has been providing customized business development and project management services, mainly but not exclusively, in Nunavut, Nunavik and Cree territories. Over time, we have developed an in-depth understanding of the Inuit and Cree local culture including the social, economic, logistic, legal, financing and political environment in those different communities.

 

YAB Management Corporation is also officially registered with the Government of Nunavut, with an official address in the hamlet of Rankin Inlet where it has a formal partnership with Sakku Investment Corporation, and is; thus, able to conduct fully approved business in the Nunavut region and Kivalliq Region.  YAB Management is also a member of the Baffin Regional Chamber of Commerce and has a very important presence in Iqaluit and on the Baffin territory. YAB Management also has a partnership with Whapmagoostui Eeyou Economic Development Corporation the economic development corporation of WFN and major involvement within the development of  Nimschu Iskudow Inc. and Kuujjuarapik Whapmagoostui Renewable Energy Corporation in the Hudson Bay Region.  YAB Management is very much involved with many of the Cree Eeyou communities of the James Bay and Abitibi region. Finally, YAB Management is developing several renewable energy studies and projects in the mining sector of Quebec and Nunavut.

 

We believe that the key factors of success in our enterprises are the good relationships we have developed with our Cree Eeyou, Inuit and non-Inuit clients of James and Hudson Bay, Nunavik and Nunavut; our understanding of local culture and our goal to go beyond the basics of consulting by listening and proposing solutions to our clients and providing custom made support for the implementation of their projects. These latter are supported by skilled managers and appropriate management tools. This ensures that our clients develop and smoothly operate their activities or business and build beneficial and long-term local and profitable capacity.

YAB Management has over 20 years of work experience, mainly in Nunavut, Nunavik, and Cree Eeyou Territory. Some of YAB Management's professional members have over 40 years of experience in project management and business development. Therefore, we are very well aware of the local challenges due to financing requirement and opportunities, geographic location, weather, political and cultural environment. 

 

In its practice, YAB Management has extensive expertise and experience in managing small, medium and large projects; all with effective, efficient and profitably successful outcomes. YAB management is a "hands-on" organization that is involved throughout project development and implementation's different phases. This ensures that the YAB management team is able to respond quickly, effectively and efficiently.

 

YAB management also provides careful risk analysis at all phases of operation and continuously assesses the risk factor during active projects. We review the potential risks throughout project development and implementation to mitigate their risk of occurence, ensuring the project is completed on time and in line with the approved budget without compromising the quality of the project or the activities plan.

 

 

6 - PROMOTION & RESPECT OF LOCAL DEVELOPMENT AND VALUES

YAB Management aims to promote local and/or indigenous participation in all our projects. Most of our clients are 100% aboriginal or local owned companies and we accompany them in developing their strengths.  Our priority is to ensure that local businesses reach their fullest potential with respect to local building capacity, culture and values.

 

Over the past 6 years YAB management has had a full-time presence in Iqaluit, as one of our staff members has been working from there, on-site, in one of our clients' offices located in Iqaluit.
